The Technical Writer is the primary documentation writer for Sungard Availability Services' key products in the Cloud and Managed Services space. The technical writer will help ensure that the technical documentation for Sungard AS' Products is maintained and available in internal and customer-facing formats. The writer will be required to work with product management, the product owner, developers, and the Operations Team to deliver assigned features. The technical writer will work directly on a specific engineering team to create solution reference documentation. This includes how-to, operational procedures and technical solution documentation for our partner organizations and customers to consume.
Responsibilities:
Participate in scrum meetings and demos, and document solutions for both internal and external consumers. Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements. Work with existing engineering and operations teams to understand existing infrastructure and offering, and take advantage of current best practices Interface with feature leads to obtain solutions details as required and understand the solution completely so the resulting written material is extremely precise and accurate. Follow documentation standards and help define and drive practices across projects. Create documentation that enables the Sungard AS Operations Team to deploy and support consumption of the services we produce in Product Engineering Create online help pages for portals of various products Participate in the process standardization for creating technical documentation across products Work supportively with colleagues, operating in a collegiate manner at all times and in line with the Company's values. Profile:
BS/BA in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or related field. Desirable. Relevant ongoing education through certifications, formal or self-study. Desirable. VMware technologies, Python, JavaScript. Desirable. 6-8 years of experience working with enterprise IT or service provider environments. Essential. experience creating reference documentation, online documentation, technical solution documentation, FAQs, how-to's and SOP guides with input from technical staff. Essential. Experience with cloud platform and virtualization technology including AWS, Azure. Essential. Experience managing and maintaining large sets of technical documentation. Essential. Experience with Agile development methodologies and being a member of a scrum team. Desirable. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities; demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize complex tasks. Essential. Comprehensive computer skills with strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Visio. Essential. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Essential. A positive, persistent approach to their work and the drive to get things done correctly. Essential.
